Former Australia spinner Brad Hogg believes that Team India should choose veteran wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik in place of Rishabh Pant in their playing XI in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 to be held in Australia. The reason has also been given.

Karthik has better ability

Brad Hogg shared a video on his Instagram in which he suggested that Dinesh Karthik could be more effective with the bat than Pant during the death overs.

Hogg believes that India already have a lot of top and middle order batsmen, but a wicket-keeper batsman who can bat in the lower order, Dinesh Karthik can provide the role.

The former Australian cricketer revealed that Dinesh Karthik can play big shots from the very first ball and it will be crucial towards the end of the innings. He also said that Dinesh Karthik has the ability to hit the bowlers in all areas of the field. Brad Hogg said,

“Karthik is capable of attacking from the very first ball. Given his ability to hit the ball in all areas of the field, it would be difficult for the bowlers to stop him in the end overs. In the last three-four overs, Dinesh Karthik has the power to change the course of the match with his batting and that is his specialty.

Both Karthik and Pant were included in India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2022. Karthik was picked over Pant for the opening match of the tournament against Pakistan.

Also, Dinesh Karthik made a comeback in India’s T20I squad this year thanks to a stellar IPL season for Royal Challengers Bangalore. The veteran batsman performed brilliantly in the role of a finisher for RCB in the IPL, scoring 330 runs at a strike rate of over 180.
